Southern Indiana Junior High Soccer Conference
Code of Conduct
Student Conduct
Contestant’s conduct, in and out of school, shall be such as (1) not to reflect discredit upon their School or Club/Association, 0r (2) not to create a disruptive influence on the discipline, good order, moral or educational environment in the school.
NOTE: It is recognized that principals or clubs/associations, by the administrative authority vested in them by their school corporation or club/association, may exclude such contests from representing their Organization.
Coaches Conduct
The member School Principal or Club/Association representative is responsible for initiating appropriate disciplinary measures against coaches for improper and unethical practices. A report or phone call to a SIJHSC member must be made by the Principal or Representative
Contest Administrators and School Administrators Conduct
With respect to a contest administrator who works at a contest, or a school administrator attending a contest, a member school principal is responsible for (i) reporting to the IHSAA about any contest administator hired by the school, or any school administrator, who is ejected from the site of the contest, or is cited for improper or unethical actions at the contest site, and (ii) initiating appropriate disciplinary measures against any such contest administrator or school administrator.
Contest Ejection/Yellow Card Accumulation
Any contestant or coach, contest administrator or school administrator who is ejected from a contest for an unsportsmanlike act the first time during a sports season shall be suspended from the next interschool contest at that level of competition and all other interschool contests at any level in the interim.
As an additional penalty, a coach is ejected from a contest the first time during a sport season must successfully complete the NFHS Teaching and Modeling Behavior course before returning to coach at a competition, and a contest who is ejected from a contest for the first time during a sport season must successfully complete the NFHS Sportsmanship course before returning to competition.
Any contestant, coach, contest administrator or school administrator, who is ejected from a contest for an unsportsmanlike act a second time during a sport season shall be suspended for the next two contest at that level of competition and all other contest at any level in the interim.
5 yellow cards accumulated during the season will equal a one game suspension. An accumulation of 5 additional yellow cards, after the initial one game suspension, will equal a two game suspension.
For the same reason a school or club/association is required to take affirmative steps after the ejection of a student-athlete, coach, or administrator, a school or club/association is expected to promptly take remedial action when a fan of a school or club/association team is unreasonably unruly and/or ejected. While a complete list of remedial steps is impossible, it would be appropriate that the unruly/ejected fan be barred from one or more future contest(s). If a fan has multiple violations, it may lead to permanent disqualification from the contests for that team.
While the home/host school or club/association may assume a primary responsibility for the management of the contest, including providing crowd control, there is a mutual responsibility on all participating schools or clubs/associations. The visiting school or club/association must also take such measures as are necessary to ensure proper behavior by the visiting school or club/association’s students and fans.
